Before starting Design Console, make sure that the services (on Windows) for the EPX Application Server and the BIC Manager or Managers are running.

Please refer to the Installation guide for information on starting these services, or contact your system administrator.

  1. To start and log into Design Console:

  • From the Windows 2000 or Windows 2003 desktop, click the Start button, point to Programs, point to Enterworks, and click EPX’s Design Console.

  • Alternatively, in Windows Explorer select:

C:\Enterworks\EPX31\bin\DesignConsole.exe

Note: This directory path reflects the default installations for EPX on each platform. If EPX was installed to an alternate directory, launch EPX from the alternate path accordingly.

Design Console launches with the available EPX’s Application Server instances visible in the Navigator pane.

  1. Log into an Application Server instance. There are several ways to do this. You can click the expand button to the left of the server name; double-click the server name; right-click the server name and then click Login in the shortcut menu; or click the server name once to select it, and then click Login in the Navigator menu on the menu bar.

Note: In this guide, the preferred method for expanding an object in the Navigator pane tree is to double-click the object. From this point on, whenever expanding a Navigator pane object is necessary, you will be instructed to double-click the object, although you can use any of the methods available for that type of object.

  1. In the Login dialog, type your login ID and password in the User Name and Password boxes, respectively, and then click OK to connect to the selected Application Server.
