Split Activities allow a single thread of control to split into two or more parallel activities. Use a Split Activity to allow work items to proceed to two or more separate activities. To place a Split Activity in a process flow:

  1. Click the Split Activity button on the tool palette.

  2. Click the spot on the canvas where you want to place the Split Activity.

  3. Right-click the Split Activity icon, and then click Properties in the shortcut menu.

  4. On the General tab, type a name for the split activity in the Name box and a description (optional) in the Description box.

If you do not specify a name when you create the activity, EPX assigns a default name such as Split Activity (1).

  1. Click the Details tab and select one of the three available options: All, Some, or One.

  • All — all activities must receive the work item

  • Some — one or more activities receive the work item

  • One — only one activity receives the work item

With One or Some splits, TaskManager users see a routing slip that lets them send the work item to one activity (a One split) or to several activities (a Some split).
