This tool takes source and destination layer to produce an output that consists of a network that connects each point in the source layer to the nearest facility attribute selected in the destination layer.
The Distance to Nearest Facility tool can be selected by navigating the following path:
Tools > Vector Processing > Network Analysis > Distance to Nearest Facility
Once this tool is selected, a window appears in which you can select the data layers and parameters required to run the tool.
- Origin Layer - The source from which the distance must be calculated.
- Destination Layer - The layer consisting of the distribution of the required facility.
- Destination Name Attribute - The value to represent each facility.
- Units - Determines the measurement of the distance.
- Generate Network Lines - Displays the connecting lines between each input points to the facility.
Select Apply button to run the operation and the output layer is produced connecting every source point to its nearest facility.
You can view the output after storing it. To save the output, you must enter the Output Layer Name and click on Save Data button. The saved output will be added as a new layer in the current map session, where you can apply styling as required. This output layer will also be available in 'My Data' section and can be used in any map session of interest.
