All vector processing tools have common Data Selection methods to operate them, that are explained in the section below.

For each Vector Processing Tool, a window appears that requires you to select a layer, then two sections appear on this window.

The first section requires you to select required prerequisite values that vary based on a specific tool.

The second section requires you to select the range of data for the operation to be implemented. There are three options available as explained below:

  1. Select By Data Queries - This option redirects you to the Query Builder. The selected operation is implemented on the output of the query created.
  2. Select By Graphics - This option gives you the choice to manually select the Features or area of Interest around which the operation should be applied. There are three ways of selection.
    • Point Selection - You can select the features by marking a point on the map screen. All the features that intersect with the point are highlighted.
Restriction: Point selection is not applicable on Point and Polyline layers.
    • Polyline Selection - You can select the features by drawing a line on the map screen. All the features that intersect with the line are highlighted.
Restriction: Polyline selection is not applicable on Point layers.
    • Polygon Selection - You can select the features by drawing a polygon on the map screen. All the features that intersect with the polygon are highlighted.
  3. All Data - Implements the selected operation on the entire map session layer.

The output produced from the selected operation is represented on the output layer corresponding to the input provided.

You can view the output after storing it. To save the output, you must enter the Output Layer Name and click on the Save Data button. The saved output will be added as a new layer in the current map session. This output layer will also be available in the 'My Data' section and can be used in any map session of interest.

You can also apply styling on the output layer by using the following options:

  1. Styling - User can select the size and color of the points displayed.
  2. Icons - The layer can be represented with an icon chosen from an inbuilt collection.
  3. Zoom Extent - This section determines the zoom limits to which can be extended for the map session layer.
Note: The session layer is not displayed if the zoom level is less than the minimum value or greater than the maximum value of the zoom extent.
  4. Label Feature - Labels can be added into the session layer by switching the toggle option on and selecting the attribute to be used as a label.

Tip: To display more than one attribute, the ‘Expression’ option can be selected, and the attribute can be added to the label by clicking the ‘Append’ option after selecting it.

Similarly, the label section allows you to modify the text styling that appears when the Label Feature option is enabled. This includes choices to change color, font, transform (text capitalization), opacity and text alignment.
