Use the Polygon command to draw polygons one side at a time.
To draw polygons:
- On the SPATIAL tab, in the Create group, click Polygon from the Insert list.
The cursor becomes a small cross.
- Move the pointer to where you want to begin drawing and click the mouse button once. Drag the pointer to draw the first side or line.
- Click the mouse button once when you want to terminate the current line and continue drawing another line from that endpoint.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 for each additional side, a new line appears between the previous end-point and the new point that you selected.
- To stop, double-click the last end point. You can delete the last node by pressing the Backspace key. If there is only one node left in the object it will not be deleted.
MapInfo Pro draws the last side of the polygon for you, automatically connecting it with the starting point. MapInfo Pro fills the polygon with the default pattern. For example, when you want to draw a triangle, you can draw two lines in a V shape, then double-click. MapInfo Pro draws a line to close the shape.
When you hold the Shift key down while drawing a polygon, the line segments are constrained to horizontal, vertical, and 45-degree diagonal.
