Use the Clear 
command to deselect all of the selected objects. You use this most often when you have selected too many objects and want to start over.
To deselect all of the selected objects:
On the MAP, TABLE, or SPATIAL tab, in the Selection group, click Clear.
Your selection is cleared from the memory. You are ready to perform a new selection or a different task.
