I chose Longitude/Latitude (NAD 83) as my projection; however, whenever I look at the Choose Projection dialog, it keeps saying Longitude/Latitude (GRS 80). Why will not my projection change? - MapInfo_Pro - 2023

Answer: The GRS 80 datum is identical to NAD 83 datum. MapInfo Pro uses the numeric parameters, not the name, to decide which coordinate system to highlight in the Choose Projection dialog. Since GRS 80 has the same numeric parameters as NAD 83, and GRS 80 datum comes earlier in the list, MapInfo Pro chooses GRS 80 instead of NAD 83.
