You can change the swatch size for lines and regions after creating a legend. These changes apply to individual legend frames, and may vary between different frames.

To change the swatch size:

  1. Double-click on the legend, or right-click on it and select Modify Legend Frame Properties from the pop-up menu.
  2. In the Legend Frame Properties dialog box, select the units you want to use from the Paper Units drop-down list.
  3. Edit one or more of the following values:
    • Line Sample Width - Enter a value for the width of a line segment in the map frame of a Legend Designer window. You can specify 12 to 144 points, 1 to 12 picas, 0.666667 to 2 inches, 4.23333 to 50.8 millimeters, or 4.23333 to 50.8 centimeters. The default value is 36pt (points).
    • Region Sample Width - Enter a value for the width of a swatch in the map frame of the Legend Designer window. You can specify 8 to 144 points, 0.666667 to 12 picas, 0.111111 to 2 inches, 0.282222 to 5.08 millimeters, or 0.282222 to 5.08 centimeters. The default value is 32pt (points).
    • Region Sample Height - Enter a value for the height of a swatch in the map frame of the Legend Designer window. You can specify 8 to 144 points, 0.666667 to 12 picas, 0.111111 to 2 inches, 0.282222 to 5.08 millimeters, or 0.282222 to 5.08 centimeters. The default value is 14pt (points).
  4. Click OK.
