Before you create a Time Series on a map in MapInfo Pro, make sure that the map has a layer with the date, time, or the datetime attribute.
Adding a Time Series to the Map
You must have your map open to add time series to it.
To add a time series:
- On the MAP menu, in the Content group, click on Add to
Map, and click Time Series from the list. The Layer
Time Properties dialog box displays.
Using this dialog you can either set new time configurations for a layer in a map or edit existing time properties of the layer.
- From the Layer drop-down, select a map layer. The Layer drop-down list contains all the layers in the map which support time series. By default, the layer which is selected in layer control is selected. In the case of only one layer in the map, that layer will be selected.
- The Configuration drop-down lists all the possible time
configurations which can be applied on the layer. Based on the selected
configuration the column drop-downs would be enabled and populated to choose
table fields which will be used as time begin/start expression.
Configuration Columns No Time configuration Layer as not time configuration. One date/time column Single date/time/datetime field as the time start and end expression. Separate date and time columns Separate date and time field in the table is used as time start and end expression. In this case, date and time field value is combined to form a datetime value. Start and end date/time columns Separate date/time/datetime fields are used for creating start and end expression respectively. In this case field type for both start and end column should be the same. Start and end date with separate time columns Both start and end time expression is created using separate date and time columns. One date/time column with a duration column Start expression is a single date/time/datetime column and the end expression is created based on the start column and a duration column. Extents: Based on the selected column type, extents of the date/time/datetime are calculated automatically.
- If you select the time type column then only the time extent text-box is displayed.
- If you select the date type column then only the date extent text-box with date picker is displayed. F
- For datetime type column, both datepicker and time text box are displayed.
- Period: This allows you to enter a positive interval count value with the time unit. This interval count is the number of time units to advance the start time of the next period from the start time of the previous period.
