To display this dialog box, on the PRO tab, select Options and then click Map Window.

When Resizing Map Window

Sets the default behavior of a Map window when you resize it. It affects only new Map windows; it has no effect on maps that are already open.

Fit Map to New Window

See the same view of your map after you have enlarged or shrunk the Map window.

Preserve Current Scale

Change the map's view as you change the size of the Map window. You will see a smaller or a larger area of the map depending on whether you shrink or enlarge the window.

Note: To override the default, right-click on a Map window and click Change View. This override only works for individual maps.

Apply Clip Region Using

Window Device Clipping (all objects)

The Windows Device Display (screen or printer) provides the clip region functionality. All objects (including points, labels, text, rasters, and grids) will be clipped at the Clip Region boundary. This is the default mode.

Window Device Clipping (no points, text)

The Windows Device Display provides the Clip Region functionality. All objects are using Erase Outside Target except points and labels. Points and labels will be completely displayed only if the point or label point lie inside the Clip Region object. Text objects are always displayed and never clipped.

Erase Outside (no points, text)

This option uses the Erase Outside Target functionality to produce the clipping. The Clip Region object is the Cutter object, and all other objects are Target objects for this operation. All objects are clipped using Erase Outside Target, except points and labels. In addition, points and labels will be completely displayed only if the point or label point lie inside the Clip Region object. Text objects are always displayed and never clipped.

Scroll Bars

Check to have scroll bars on the Map window.

Autoscroll

Autoscroll on/checked is the default setting. When checked, the Layout window scrolls automatically.

Show InfoTips

Choose to display the value of an object's label expression in a Tool-Tip like bubble.

Automatic Raster Zoom Layering

Select this option to provide zoom layering for raster images automatically. Leave this check box cleared to prevent zoom layering for raster images.

Automatic Grid Zoom Layering

Select this option to provide zoom layering for grid map files. Clear this check box to prevent zoom layering in grids.

Draw Layers Under Themes

Select this option to set the default behavior of the Replace Layer Style check box. Select this check box to clear the Replace Layer Style check box by default. Clear this check box to ensure that the Replace Layer Style check box is selected by default. This option pertains to creating multi-thematic layers in Ranged and Individual Value thematic maps.

Automatically Open Default Theme

Select this check box to open the current default theme from the table's metadata. Eventually, when you open the table with an associated default theme, the map will display that default theme. This check box is selected by default. For more information on creating tables with default themes, refer to the section Associate Theme With Table in Create/Modify Thematic Map Dialog Box.

Enable Hardware Acceleration for 3DMap Window

Allows MapInfo Pro to display the 3DMap without using your video card acceleration capability.

Mouse Wheel Zoom Based on a Cursor Location

When zooming a map using a the mouse wheel, the zoom will center where the cursor is located on the map. When this option is not set, the zoom is centered at the center of the map.

Handler for New Grids

Choose which handler to use when creating grid files. The grid handler determines the format of the grid files generated during the Create Grid Thematic operation. The list of grid handlers displays the grid handlers you have installed on your system.
