Use the Interactive Geocode dialog box to select the correct address during an interactive geocoding session. Some of these options and buttons do not appear on both dialog boxes.

Geocoding Server

Use this drop-down list to select the service you want to use to geocode the address.

Server URL

This is a read-only field that shows the location of the geocoding service.

Servers

Click this button to display the Geocoding Servers List. From this dialog box, you can add, edit, and delete geocoding service. You can also set a service as the default.

Server Info

Click this button to display the Geocoding Server Details dialog box. This read-only dialog box shows the technical details of the selected service and the geocoding types you can perform using this service.

Allow Advanced Address

Select this check box to enable the City/Town Subdivision and Country Secondary Subdivision drop-down column selections.

Close Matches Only

Use this option to restrict the number of matches that the service displays. The geocoding server determines close matching by reviewing the matches and scoring the results based on how much of the address matches the requested address.

Address 1 and Address 2

Type the street address you want to geocoding in these fields. The Address 1 field is required if you are performing a Street level geocode.

City/Town Name

Type the city or town name of the address you want to geocode in this field.

City/Town Division

Type the neighborhood identification name of the address you want to geocode in this field, if applicable. This field is only enabled when you select the Allow Advanced Address check box.

Country/Secondary Subdivision

Type the region name of the address you want to geocode in this field, if applicable. This field is only enabled when you select the Allow Advanced Address check box.

State/Province

Type the state or province name of the address you want to geocode in this field, if applicable. This field is required if you are performing a geographic geocode search.

Postal Code

Type the postal code of the address you want to geocode in this field, if applicable. This field is required if you are performing a postal code centroid geocode search.

Country

Select the country of the address you want to geocode from this drop-down list. This field is always required. If the country you are geocoding in does not display in this field by default, select the Get Countries button to retrieve a list of country data available on the selected geocoding service.

Result Code

Indicates the error code for each record it accesses, whether the record is geocoded or not. You can use this code to diagnose geocode failures and to see what options MapInfo Pro used to obtain matches. You can then examine the codes and formulate a strategy for further, more successful geocoding.

Options

Click this button to reset the common options for the geocoding session. See Geocode Properties Dialog Box (Common Options Tab).

Search

Click this button to search for geocoding matches for a particular address. When the results display, a check mark displays beside the result that most closely matches the requested address.

Ignore All

Click this button to ignore all of the records to be geocoded. (Not in the Find Address dialog box.)
