The Common Options tab allows you to specify the type of geocoding that will be performed on the specified data. This dialog box displays when you select the Options button on the Find Address dialog box or when you select the Common Options tab in the Geocode Properties dialog box. The fields in both cases are the same.
Require Exact Match On
Use these options to identify the data that must match exactly during the geocoding process.
- Address Number
- Street Name
- City/Town Name
- Postal Code
Fallback
Select one of these options to instruct the geocoding server which geocode type to use if the selected geocoding type does not find a match.
- Fallback to Postal Code Centroid
- Fallback to Geographic Centroid
Maximum Candidates - Number of Candidates
If the geocoding service finds more than one record that matches the address you entered, the number you enter into this field determines the greatest number of candidates that display. For example, the default is 2. If there are 5 addresses that match the address you entered, only the first three display, sorted in the order of best matching probability.
Geometry Settings
Symbol Style - Click this button to select the style properties of the point you are geocoding. The style you select here overrides the default symbol style and displays in the Map window when the address geocoding is complete.
Projection - Click this button to select a new projection for the Map. This button is only enabled when the table you are geocoding is not mappable. Click this button to select a new projection for the table. The projection you select displays in the following field.
