When opening a SHP file in MapInfo Pro, you can now store the resultant TAB, MAP, and ID
files in the same folder as input SHP file. In previous versions, this location used to
be the SHP file directory preference (typically user's Documents
folder) by default. Now this location automatically defaults to the same folder as the
input SHP file.
However, there is a new folder icon in the location sidebar you can use to select the SHP
file directory preference location instead. If the folder location where SHP files
reside is read-only, an error is displayed asking you to select another
location.
