The Rasterize tool converts a MapInfo TAB file of region/polygon objects into a raster file. The output raster file can be of numeric or classified field type. To create a classified output raster you need to choose a character type column from the input TAB file. Numeric rasters may be created from character or numeric column types. The Rasterize tool will only process region/polygon objects from the input TAB file. Other object types such as points, lines and text will be ignored.

The colors represent the population values. All of the cells within a given region will have the same population value.
This could be used in comparing or querying the population with data from other grids.
