To use the Region Statistics tool:

On the RASTER tab, in the Operations group, click Raster Operations and then click the Region Stats
button to open the Region Inspection dialog box.

Select one or more raster files from the Input File drop-down list or click to browse the raster file(s).
Consider a raster file representing density of population in a certain region defined by census boundaries. The census boundaries is a vector layer on top of the raster.

Select region data from the Select Region Layer drop-down list or click to browse the MapInfo TAB file.

Click More Options and select the required region inspection attributes check-boxes.

In the Output File box enter the name you want to specify for your output file. Click to browse to the location to save the output file. Click Output Settings and check Display Output File to display the output file after the operation is complete.

Click the Process button to compute the region statistics.
You will see the output in a browser window.
Note: The new column(s) name is derived from the input raster file name followed by statistics attribute name.
