The Interactive Cross Section tool offers a convenient way to quickly draw a cross section profile on a map. When using Cross Section in the interactive mode you do not have to make the cosmetic layer editable in the map window to start drawing a line/polyline. The interactive mode is quick and easy. You can access the interactive cross section by clicking the Interactive Cross Section button in the Interactive Tools group on the Raster tab.
When you click the button, your mouse cursor changes into a crosshair cursor. Start drawing the line/polyline on the map in the map window and double-click to finish the drawing. As you finish, the cross section profile is created and displayed in the profile window. To turn off the crosshair cursor on the map window, right-click and choose from the context menu.
The Interactive Cross Section tool is different from Cross Section tool in the following ways:
- The line/polyline object drawn on the map is temporary and it is not saved in the file.
- In the interactive mode, you can not draw multiple line/polyline objects on the map window.
