A running Ironstream instance collecting SMF records can have its existing SOURCE configuration parameters dynamically modified without having to stop and restart the instance. This includes switching from a currently-SELECTed SMF record type to another record type, changing/adding/deleting any supported subtypes, and also modifying the SMF filtering parameters via the INCLUDE and WHERE statements. Such dynamic reconfiguration alleviates the need to stop your running tasks, thereby preventing the loss of records by eliminating unnecessary downtime while gathering SMF data.
