This chapter describes how to run the mapping job that associates the CIs with the services based on the patterns defined previously.

When the mapping job runs, it will apply service mapping to all the Services that have Patterns associated with them. Refer to the section “Running the Mapping Job for a Single Service” to run the mapping job for a specific service.

It is recommended that you run the mapping job soon after Discovery to ensure that the CIs created by the Discovery process are associated with the appropriate services. The running of the mapping job should be done during off-peak hours to limit any potential performance impacts to the ServiceNow instance.

To access the Mapping Job, a user will need admin the role. To run the job manually, perform the following steps:

  1. In ServiceNow, search for Ironstream IBM i Service Mapping.

  2. Select the Ironstream IBM i Service Mapping > IBM i Service Mapping Job option.

  3. Select the Ironstream IBM i Service Mapping job to load its details.

  4. Click the Execute Now button.

To run the job automatically, perform the following steps:

  1. Load the Ironstream IBM i Service Mapping job.

  2. Select an option from the Run drop-down that suits your requirements.

Note: Selecting an option other than On Demand will show more options to adjust the automatic run.

  1. Click the Update button to save your change.

The job will now trigger at times based on the details provided for the automatic run.
