To create a new pattern, click the New button at the top of the screen. This will display a form for defining the pattern details.
All inputs except Copy Existing Pattern correlate to a field defined inside the Pattern Anatomy section. Refer to the section “ANDing Patterns Together” for details of the Copy Existing Pattern input.
Note: The UI will not restrict what Expression Type can be used with a CI Attribute, but not every Expression Type is applicable to a CI Attribute. This is because some of the Expression Types will work with numerical values while others only work on text values. For example, the Expression Type GREATER THAN will not produce any matches when used with an CI Attribute of Subsystem Name as the CI Attribute is a text-based value.
If a new pattern is required, perform the following steps:
Fill out the form as needed.
If a pattern needs to be based on an existing pattern, you can either:
Use the Copy Existing Pattern drop-down to select the pattern you want to copy.
Type the pattern name into the Pattern Name input.
Either method will populate the form with details from the specified pattern.
Once you have populated all the inputs with your required pattern details, click Submit and the new pattern will be added to the Patterns Table. The next time the mapping job is run, any CIs matching the pattern’s criteria will be added to the Service Map.
