The Ironstream Service Mapping app maps the CIs, created by Ironstream Discovery, to Application Services. However, it does not create those services themselves, only Application Services created manually can be used. It cannot use any services created by the ServiceNow built-in discovery tool.

To create a new service, perform the following steps:

  1. In ServiceNow, search for Application Service.

  2. Select the Configuration > Application Service option.

  3. Click the New button.

For a ServiceNow instance that looks like the below screenshot, perform the following steps:

  1. Provide a service name.

  2. Select the Manually created option.

  3. Use the CI Type search field to select IBM i LPAR.

The Application Service requires an initial IBM i LPAR as an entry point. You do not need to add all the LPARs required for this Service as entry points. Any LPARs that matches the patterns associated with this Service will be added to the Service when the Scheduled Job is run. Any LPARs that do not match the patterns will be removed. Therefore, this Service only requires one LPAR to complete its creation.

  1. Use the CI Name search field to select an IBM i LPAR as an entry point.

  2. Click Add after both the fields are completed.

  3. Click the Save button in upper right corner.

For a ServiceNow instance that looks like the below screenshot, perform the following steps:

  1. Provide a service name.

  2. Click Next in the upper right corner to move to the Populate the Application Service section.

  3. Click Choose a Method.

  5. For the Class, select IBM i LPAR.

The service is now ready to be associated with the patterns.
