This chapter describes how to run the mapping job that associates the CIs with the services based on the patterns defined previously.

When the mapping job runs, it will apply service mapping to all the Services that have Patterns associated with them. Refer to the section “Running the Mapping Job for a Single Service” to run the mapping job for a specific service.

It is recommended that you run the mapping job soon after Discovery to ensure that the CIs created by the Discovery process are associated with the appropriate services. The running of the mapping job should be done during off-peak hours to limit any potential performance impacts to the ServiceNow instance.
