You can create new patterns from the Ironstream Mainframe Service Mapping Patterns List View. Refer to “Accessing the Patterns” for information on this.

To create a new pattern, click the New button at the top of the screen. This will display a form to fill with details on what you want the pattern to do.

All inputs except Copy Existing Pattern correlate to a field defined inside the Pattern Anatomy section.

See the ‘ANDing Patterns Together’ section for details of the ‘Copy Existing Pattern’ input.

Note: There is no restriction on what Expression Type can be used with which CI Attribute; some CI Attributes will not work with certain Expression Types.

If a new pattern is required, simply fill out the form as needed.

If a pattern needs to be based on an existing pattern, either use the Copy Existing Pattern dropdown to select the pattern you want to copy, or simply type in the pattern name into the Pattern Name input.

Doing either will populate the form with details from the specified pattern.

Once you have populated all the inputs with your required pattern details, click Submit and the new pattern will be added to the Patterns Table. The next time the Mapping Job is run, any CIs matching the pattern’s criteria will be added to the Service Map.
