For the Ironstream Service Mapping app to map the CIs created by Ironstream to a service, an Application Service needs to be created so CIs can be mapped to it. Application Services need to be created manually; services created by the ServiceNow built-in discovery tool cannot currently be used by this app.
Note: The process of creating a service can vary between versions of ServiceNow, the Ironstream Service Mapping app was created for the Orlando Release. All screenshots were created be using Orlando and depending on your ServiceNow Instance setup, what you see may be different to what are presented in the screenshots.
To create a new service:
Within ServiceNow, search for Application Service.
Select the Configuration > Application Service option.
Click the New button.
For a ServiceNow instance that looks like this screenshot:
Provide a service name.
Select the Manually created option.
Use the CI Type search field to select IBM Mainframe LPAR.
The Application Services requires an initial IBM Mainframe LPAR as an entry point, you do not need to add all the LPARs required for this Service as entry points. Any LPARs that matches the patterns associated with this Service will be added to the Service when the Scheduled Job is ran. Any LPARs that don’t match the patterns will be removed. Therefore, this Service only requires one LPAR to complete its creation.
Use the CI Name search field to select an IBM Mainframe LPAR as an entry point.
Click Add after both fields are completed.
Click the Save button in upper right corner create the Application Service.
