If you upgrade from an earlier version of Ironstream for ServiceNow (for example, v7.2) and simply install v7.5 over your existing environment you will see multiple Configuration Tool services and installed software.

These notes explain how to avoid this issue, which was caused by corporate rebranding applied from v7.5 onwards.

When you upgrade from an older version to v7.5 or later, it installs as a separate product even though it puts its files in the same location as previously. This creates confusion as there will be multiple Configuration Tool services (one old and one newly rebranded). The list of installed programmes in Windows Settings will show them as two products (one with the old name and one with the new name).

Uninstall any previous version you have before installing v7.5. All the user configurations under the conf folder will be preserved even after uninstallation but take a backup "just in case" or to preserve any other changes made to files.

If you have already installed v7.5 over the top of v7.2, simply uninstall v7.5 and then v7.2. Take a backup of your conf folder "just in case" before you do, then reinstall v7.5.

After a v7.5 installation, any previously defined MCS services should still be present in the Windows Services list and working as usual when started up.
