Commands may consist of native IBM i commands as well as scripts or programs. To send a native OS/400 command, use the ev400hostcmd program located in the \bin subdirectory of the Ironstream installation path.

The command syntax is:

ev400hostcmd type command.as400_node

where:

Variable Description

type

The command type. Use one of the following types:

80 = Commands to the IBM i OS, as if from a console command line.

is displayed using the OM server’s default codepage.

81 = Any response data should be converted using the code page specified in the EV400_CMDRSP_ALT_CODEPAGE parameter (see parameter definition above)

86 = a special Ironstream command that requests IBM i information on certain system resources. See the section “Using the Ironstream Agent Interface to System APIs"

command

The OS/400 command text. The first period (.) encountered is used to mark the end of the command. If the command text itself has a period in it, enter two periods to signify that it is not the end of the command.

as400_nodem

The IBM i node on which the command is to be executed. Usually this is the node which generated the original message: <$MSG_NODE_NAME>
