If Workload Manager (WLM) is present on the IBM Z system, add an entry for the VP390 job to the SYSTEM or SYSSTC service class, assigning it a priority slightly lower than VTAM.
If WLM is not used, set the performance group by adding a TRXNAME parameter for Ironstream to the STC subsystem definition of SYS1.PARMLIB(IEAICSxx).
In the TRXNAME line, specify one of the following:
Same performance group used by NetView/390 (if present)
Performance group that is one level below the VTAM performance group
This addition ensures that Ironstream receives enough CPU time to avoid a backlog of network information processing. The default name for the Ironstream startup job is VP390.
For example, if NetView/390 is running in performance group 8, specify the addition for VP390 with the following:
TRXNAME=VP390,PGN=8
To dynamically reload the ICS file after a new entry is added, enter the following z/OS command:
SET ICS=xx
where xx is the two-digit suffix of the edited member.
