New mainframe nodes to be monitored in OMi must first be configured using the Ironstream Configuration Tool web interface. The Web configuration is launched using a web browser and URL constructed as follows:

http://proxyserver:9852

where proxyserver is the hostname or IP address of the Ironstream Proxy Server. 9852 is the default port number used by the web configuration interface. If port 9852 is not available, the default port number can be changed by editing the vp390info file in the Ironstream configuration directory and changing parameter EV390_CONFIG_PORT.

The Ironstream Add/Edit screen is used to add a new mainframe LPAR to be monitored by OMi. (OMi views LPARs as separate nodes, even if they exist in the same physical box.) After entering some identifying information about the system and saving the configuration, the Ironstream discovery policy will be activated to add the mainframe node CI to the RTSM database.

To add mainframe nodes follow these steps:

  1. Start the Ironstream Configuration Tool from a web browser.

  2. Click on the Add Node button and enter the mainframe LPAR’s fully qualified hostname as defined in your DNS.

  3. Edit the Ironstream server parameters.

Update the EV390_LICKEY parameter with the license key supplied by Support for this system.

You can accept the default values created (recommended) or provide custom values for the configuration parameters. Placing the mouse cursor over the parameter name will provide a tooltip explanation of the parameters. Additional information and valid values for parameters are at the end of this chapter.
