The Ironstream Agent for IBM i operates as a subsystem with multiple jobs. Predefined and customizable filters identify important messages that are then packaged into a common data structure and forwarded via TCP/IP to Hub for processing. IBM i messages and data can be collected by the agent from several sources, including:
- System Operator Message Queue (QSYSOPR)
- Application Message Queues
- History Log (QHST)
- System Audit Journal
- System Summary Performance Data
- Collection Services Data
- Job Accounting Data
- Application File Journal Data
- IFS Logs
- Job Logs
Event and Message Buffering
If event, message, performance, or journal data cannot be sent to Hub for any reason, the agent will save or buffer the data until the connection becomes available. This ensures that important data will not be lost. Up to 2GB of data (the maximum size of a data queue) may be buffered on the IBM i agent.
