GroundView demographic data for the United States and Puerto Rico is a comprehensive set of almost 6,500 demographic and socio-economic variables, provided for ten layers of geography (8 for Puerto Rico), from block groups up to national totals. Another 500 variables are provided in Precisely’s US Business Summary Data product, described separately in its own product guide.
All estimates and projections are updated annually to the current year and key variables are projected to five years. Data are updated annually using the latest input data sources from the most authoritative sources, including the U.S. government and Precisely data.
A complete list of variables with detailed field descriptions is available in the companion document – groundview_complete_usa_data_schema.xlsx – which accompanies this document. The data content is a series of themed tables grouped into datasets. Update Profile
The Update Profile dataset is published as a set of key demographic data. The Update Profile dataset contains a selection of current year estimate variables from the larger Estimates and Projections data suite, in the form of percent distributions, and medians and averages (means) where applicable. Demographic base variables such as total population and households are included, as well as characteristics of population (such. age and sex) and household information. The Update Profile dataset is available as a set of mappable MapInfo Pro files which include the boundaries for each geography level. This dataset is also available in the standard pipe-delimited text format (with separate boundary text files, containing geometry in WKT format, however not joined to the Update Profile data).
