The software package contains utilities for extracting geographic subsets of data from the main files, which is useful for processing files that require only a portion of the United States database. For more information about using these utilities, see the GeoStan Geocoding Utilities Reference.
By default, applicable data packages ship with a nationwide GSX file to use for reverse geocoding. You must be licensed for the reverse geocoding option.
Creating GSX files on Windows
To create the reverse geocoding files:
- Use batchind.exe located on your data package.
- Click Yes to begin the creation process when the installation wizard prompts you to create the reverse geocoding files.
- This dialog appears if you are licensed for reverse geocoding.
Creating GSX files on Unix
To create the reverse geocoding files:
- Change to the directory where you placed the Centrus data.
- Make a directory called "gsx".
- Create the files in the gsx directory by running the batchind executable. The batchind executable is included in the GeoStan software tar file and should be located in the directory where you installed the GeoStan software.
