To use the Lookup Tool to define AddrScan processing options, follow these steps:

  1. To open the Lookup Tool, click Start > Programs > Precisely > Finalist > Lookup.
  2. Click Postal Code > AddrScan.
  3. To set AddrScan advanced options, click the Adv button. Use the Process/Advanced Options dialog box to set advanced processing options.
  4. Click the check box to activate the option displayed. When selected, the valid value (shown in parentheses) displays on the Adv button. For example, if you activate the first three options by clicking on the first three check boxes, the Adv button on the Code an Address dialog box displays as Adv(#PD).

Field Description
Prevent AddrScan from concatenating lines beginning with # to existing lines (#) To prevent AddrScan from concatenating lines beginning with a # to existing address lines, select this option.
Prevent AddrScan from recognizing periods as valid characters (P) To prevent AddrScan from recognizing periods as a valid characters (to specify that a period should be removed before scanning address lines), select this option.
Prevent AddrScan from concatenating dangling lines (D) To prevent AddrScan from concatenating one-word lines to address lines, select this option.
Skip Merging Secondary or PMB (S) To prevent AddrScan from merging separated 2nd unit and PMB information, select this option.
Skip Firm (F) To prevent AddrScan from performing firm processing, select this option.
Skip URB (U) To prevent AddrScan from performing URB processing, select this option.
Skip City, State, or ZIP Code (Z) To prevent AddrScan from performing City, State, or ZIP Code processing, select this option.
  1. To set AddrScan returned line options, click the Rtn button. Use the Return Line Options dialog box to specify the format of your returned lines. Select three options (one for each returned line and a special option). If you do not select a value for all three sections, processing results may be undesirable.

    Click the check box to activate the option displayed. When selected, the valid value (shown in parentheses) displays on the Rtn button. For example, the Rtn button on the Code an Address dialog box displays as Rtn(12A) if you select the following options:

    • Return Line 1 — First valid line from top (1)
    • Return Line 2 — Second valid line from top (2)
    • Special Option — All special options (A)
    Field Description
    Return Line 1 To specify the format for the first returned line, select one of the following options.

    Special Option To specify a special option for your returned lines, select one of the following options.
    A
    All special options
    N
    No special options
    R
    Add a range of "0" to street lines without a range (for example, Main St becomes 0 Main St)
    S
    Separate combined address lines (S)
  2. To define the order for returning the standardized address lines, click the Ord button. Use the Return Line Order dialog box to set the return line order options.

    Click the check box to activate the option displayed. When selected, the valid value (shown in parentheses) displays on the Ord button. For example, the Ord button on the Code an Address dialog box displays as Ord(0128) if you select the following line types:

    • 0 — Firm line
    • 1 —PO Box address line
    • 2 —Address line with both a range and a suffix word
    • 8 —Second valid line from top
    Field Description
    Line Types Select the line types, in preferred order, for returning the standardized address lines. You may select up to 9 line types.

    To select a line type, click on the desired line. Then click on the arrow to move the selected line type value to the Chosen Opts box.

    Use the Clear button to delete the contents of the Chosen Opts box.
