A tag is a keyword that you can assign to an asset. You can use tags to help you to browse and search for related items.

If your administrator has configured a Tag type field on an asset, you will see any existing tags and a Click to add button on the definition page of the asset.

Tags are displayed in alphabetical order, and can also be viewed from the asset list page.

Note: Tags are limited to a length of 100 characters per tag.
  • Hover over a tag to see who added the tag and when it was created.
  • Click a tag to open a Tags page listing all assets that use the selected tag.
  • From the Tags page, if you have the required permissions you can Edit or Delete tags by clicking the buttons at the top of the screen.
  • To return to the asset page, click Back.

To add a new tag:

  1. Click the Click to add button. As you type, a list of matching tags will be displayed. You can select an existing tag, or type to add a new tag.
  2. Click Done.
Tip: You cannot create a new tag with the same name as an existing tag, and you cannot use the pipe symbol | in a tag name.

Export tags

If you export a list of assets, the export will include any tags. If an asset has multiple tags, the tags will be pipe delimited in the output. For this reason, you cannot use the pipe symbol in a tag name.

Remove tags

If you have the required permissions, you can remove a tag by clicking the Remove Tag icon inside the tag.

Search for tagged assets

You can search for all assets that are tagged with a specific keyword by typing the tag name into the search bar. The system searches for all assets with a matching name or tag.

You can restrict the search to include only tags by using the Advanced search and selecting the Tag field type.

If you are an administrator and want information on managing the tags in your system, see Managing tags.
