You can connect the data sources across your business by combining the analytical power of Data360 Analyze with the data governance capabilities of Data360 Govern.

Data360 Analyze enables you to acquire, prepare and analyze metadata from external sources, and then uses APIs to feed this externally sourced metadata to Data360 Govern to enrich your data governance glossaries. The data flows that are built in Data360 Analyze to extract technical metadata from external sources are called "Connectors". Connectors can be used to extract metadata from flat files (for example XML or CSV), databases (for example SQL Server or Oracle) and applications (for example SAP).

*Gen 3 Connectors. If you are using a Gen 3 Connector, work with your Precisely representative to setup the required metamodel and Connector configuration in Data360 Govern.

Technical assets created by Gen 3 Connectors are not compatible with Gen 4 Connectors and first require a migration. If you are migrating to Gen 4 Connectors and want to keep existing technical assets in Data360 Govern, work with your Precisely representative to run the Gen 4 Asset Migration Node. If you have not curated additional metadata for the Connector-generated technical assets and are comfortable recreating all technical assets, the Connectors’ asset types can be removed completely from Data360 Govern. The first execution of the Gen 4 Connector will recreate the metamodel.

The migration steps involve executing a Data360 Analyze node which can update the metamodel, remove legacy asset types, and update every technical asset created by the Connector so they are compatible with the Gen 4 version.

When there are no longer Gen 3 Connectors running in a Data360 Govern environment, the "Connector" asset type, which includes its child types "Metadata Classification", "Metadata Mapping", and "Relationships Mappings", can be removed.

Note that Gen 4 Connectors automatically update the metamodel on each execution. If migrating an existing metamodel instead of allowing the Gen 4 Connector to recreate the metamodel, after the first Gen 4 execution, it is recommended to review the detail page of each asset type to ensure fields are ordered as desired and no similarly-named Relation Lookup fields showing the same assets are present.
