Building a dashboard consists of creating a dashboard, then adding dashboard elements - known as dashlets - to the dashboard.

Create a dashboard

  1. Navigate to your pipeline.
  2. Click the menu button to the right of the path where you want to store your dashboard and select NewDashboard.

    The New Dashboard dialog opens.

  3. In the New Dashboard dialog, locate the data view that you want to build the dashboard for, and click OK.

Note: You can select only internal data stores of type database, or data stores that have 'ad hoc query' enabled.
  4. In the dashboard designer, drag and drop dashboard elements from the left-side of the screen into the empty canvas to add them as dashlets. For example, to add a chart to your new dashboard, drag and drop the chart icon anywhere in the canvas.
  5. Click OK to add the first dashboard element to the dashboard.
Tip: In Data360 DQ+, an element that is added to a dashboard is called a dashlet.
Tip: You can also create a new dashboard by selecting Dashboards from the menu at the top of the Home page and then selecting New Dashboard. The five most recently viewed dashboards are pinned to this menu for quick access.

Dashboard elements

You can add the following element types to a dashboard.

  • Charts and Tables
  • Cards
  • Text
  • Filters
  • Filter Selections
  • Web Content
  • Spacers

For more information, see Dashboard elements.

The dashboard designer

Use the dashboard designer to add elements and edit your dashboard.

Copying dashboard items

You can copy dashlets and sheets in your dashboard. To copy a dashlet:

  1. Select the dashlet you want to copy.
Tip: You can select multiple dashlets by pressing Ctrl and clicking each dashlet that you want to copy.
  2. In the dashboard designer header, click Copy.
  3. Select Dashlet from the drop down to copy the selected dashlet. A Copied Dashlet icon is displayed your dashlet palette.
  4. Drag and drop the Copied Dashlet icon onto a sheet to add it to the sheet.

Copying sheets

  1. Select the sheet you want to copy.
  2. In the dashboard designer header, click Copy.
  3. Select Sheet from the drop down. The Paste Sheet icon is displayed in the dashboard header.
  4. Click Paste Sheet to paste a new copy of the sheet into the dashboard.

Moving back and forward

When you view a dashboard, the header bar contains Back and Forward buttons. You can use these buttons to step back or forward through any filters that have been applied to the dashboard, including drill filters and brush selection filters.

Tip: The Back and Forward buttons are helpful when you are working with a dashboard that has a large number of filters, because you don't have to remember which filters were applied last as you work with the dashboard.

Refreshing a dashboard

When you view a dashboard in view mode, the header bar contains a Refresh button. You can use this button to refresh all of the dashboard's data. You might want to refresh dashboard data, for example, when monitoring a dashboard that has its data updated on a very frequent basis, because the dashboard might not automatically update its data frequently enough for you.

Unmasking secure fields

If you have permission to unmask a secure field, you can unmask it at the record level by using the lock icon that appears in records in data grids. You can also unmask multiple records by using the Unmask All button.

Note: Unmask actions are logged in the product's audit trail, which is accessible to administrators.
