Mount Points provide system administrators the ability to mount a specified file system location, relative to the defined target location in a data connection, to either a Data360 Analyze directory or data collection. Together with data connections, mount points allow the system administrator to control which locations of the file system, or external drive, are available to end users to browse via data collections.

Admin users can view the Mount Points collection to see a centralized view of all mount points and their associated data connections in the system. This enables you to easily check the access that is setup to file system resources.

For a selected mount point, you can view and edit the associated data connection path and target location, or you can delete the mount point.

Note: Editing a mount point will not move files on the file system, but it could result in a change in the view of a data collection.

To create a mount point:

  1. In the Directory, click the menu button to the right of the folder on which you want to create a mount point and choose Manage Mount Point.
  2. Select a data connection for the mount point.
The data connection defines the source connection for the mount point.
  3. Optionally, type a relative path for the mount point. This path is relative to the source target location configured on the data connection.
The next step is to give users access to files in the directory using a data collection. See Create a data collection
Note: If you create a data collection before configuring a mount point, you will see a warning that the data collection is not mounted. In this case, you need to configure the mount point after creating the data collection
