When you create or open a data flow, you are taken to the data flow designer screen. From here, you can build, interrogate, troubleshoot and run your analytic applications. The user interface consists of the following areas:

Designer user interface

1. Data flow canvas

The canvas is where your data flow is displayed, and where you interact with the data flow to add new nodes, edit and run the existing nodes, and work with pins to view data as it flows through your analytic application. For more information, see:

2. Nodes panel

A data flow is constructed from nodes, which are the building blocks of an analytics application. The Nodes panel on the left of the screen provides access to all of the nodes available to you for building data flows, see Browsing for nodes. You are encouraged to build your own library nodes as your applications become more sophisticated and you identify opportunities to build reusable pieces of functionality for your business.

From this left hand panel you can also choose the Errors tab, which will display any errors found in your data flow, allowing you to troubleshoot and correct any problems with your analytic application, see Troubleshooting errors.

Click the Search tab to search within your data flow for nodes by name or by type, or for property values, see Searching within a data flow.

3. Properties panel

The Properties panel allows you to view and configure node, data flow and run properties, see Defining properties.

The Data Flow tab displays a count of the number of nodes within the data flow, including nodes contained within Composite nodes, but not including the Composite nodes themselves.

Both the Nodes panel and the Properties panel can be resized and collapsed to dedicate more space to the data flow canvas. Drag the edge of a panel to resize it, and click the edge of the panel to collapse and expand it.

4. Tool bar

The tool bar provides access to all of the commands available for working with your data flow, such as Save, Cut, Copy and Paste. Less commonly used commands, such as SelectAll or Export are available from the tool bar menu.

5. Zoom bar

The zoom bar allows you to zoom in and out of the data flow on the canvas.

6. Data viewer

The data viewer is available from the bottom of the screen. One of the most powerful features of Data360 Analyze is that you can inspect data as it flows through your data flow. Click a record count or a green output pin of a node to show its data. For more information, see:
