A rounding error can occur when a column with the Sybase REAL (or Oracle NUMBER) datatype is replicated to a receiving column that has greater precision than the sending column. If the error occurs, the value transmitted to the receiving server is correct to seven significant digits and contains additional inaccurate digits. For example, if you update a Sybase REAL column to the value -.05 and replicate it to an Oracle target, you might see the following value at the Oracle target:
-0.050000000745058
If you update the REAL column to 1E38, you might see the following result at the Oracle target:
9.9999996802857E37
