Connect CDC supports a significant subset of the column datatypes of the DBMSs it supports. This section describes the supported datatypes as well as the rules that govern the compatibility between source and target datatypes.
Connect CDC has restrictions on the datatypes that can be distributed as well as restrictions on which sending table datatypes can be mapped to which receiving table datatypes. Connect CDC Director enforces the restrictions by applying the conversion rules discussed in this section.
In addition, the Connect CDC component that prepares the actual data, applies formatting rules before sending the data to the target. The target DBMS has its rules for handling data, which must be considered in cases where the column data does not fit the column definition.
