This section gives information on using the Java Installer to install Connect CDC on IBM i platforms only. Installation must be done locally in batch mode or remotely in GUI or batch mode, that is, with the installer running on a Windows or UNIX originating host and installing onto an IBM i host. See the Installation Guide for all other platforms besides IBM i, including how to set up the originating host.
-
Gathers input describing where to install and information about the host environment.
-
Verifies information gathered in Step 1.
Before copying any Connect CDC files, the Installer verifies the following:
-
The version of the Java Run-time Environment must be at a level acceptable for the Connect CDC executable processes.
-
The Java compiler is available wherever Connect CDC is installed.
You receive a warning if the javac file is not available or is not in the path. Installation can continue without javac, but expressions and join tables will not function.
-
The TCP/IP port number chosen for use by the Connect CDC Listener must be available and not used or reserved by any other service. On a reconfiguration, Connect CDC Listener must be shut down prior to the reconfiguration.
All the drivers chosen for use at a host must be accessible and supported for use by Connect CDC.
-
-
Configures shell scripts using input gathered in Step 1.
-
Installs the files.
This involves copying components from the install directory to the specified directory on the host and creating the ConnectCDC subsystem.
-
Starts the Connect CDC Listener.
-
Saves the installation configuration.
This step creates the following files:
-
<host>verifier.properties in the installation directory
-
<host>verifier.results
-
<host>.ini
This file contains the parameters values chosen for this host installation and usually resides in the /tmp directory on the host on which you are installing.
-
install.log
Along with the log file created during the installation, this file serves as a record of the installation. Subsequent runs of the Installer attempt to locate this file.
