Before you use Connect CDC ensure:

  • The installation of all components of Connect CDC is complete for all machines involved in Connect CDC distribution. This implies:

  • At least one of these machines is available from which you can copy and replicate SQL data to another (preferably distinct) machine. The operating systems and DBMSs do not matter.

  • Connect CDC Listener is running.

  • You know the location of the Connect CDC installation (jar) files on the source and target host machines.

  • You have access to a Windows system on which Connect CDC Director is installed. See the Release Notes for supported Windows versions.

  • You have access to a Windows or UNIX machine on which the Connect CDC Monitoring and Control utility will run. This machine must have the appropriate Java and Connect CDC software installed and tested.

  • You know or can provide the details about the data you want to move and the machines that are involved.

Note: The exercises assume you have a source and a target table with the same table names and at least some of the same column names. This enables automatic mapping of your table data.

Topics are divided into a working section and a reference section. The working section is designed to be read topic by topic, starting below, so that you:

  1. Assemble the information about your system needed to complete the examples.

  2. Familiarize yourself with the basic Connect CDC modeling concepts.

  3. Step through the exercises
