Use Selective Start to add new tables to a model in Copy or Synchronization requests. It allows you to select one or more tables in the request and to start the copy of just those tables.

Use Selective Start or the Copy portion of Synchronization requests to start the copy of just the new tables. When a new version of a model is loaded and a new table mapping has been added to an existing Synchronization request, Model Update does not synchronize the existing target tables. This avoids copying tables that have already been synchronized.

With Selective Start, only tables you select are copied and synchronized. After Selective Start has completed, Start automatically initiates replication for all tables in the request.

To use Selective Start, do the following:

  1. From Connect CDC Director, create a new version of the model, adding the new source and target table mappings.

  2. Commit the new version with an incremental commit.

  3. Stop the request if this is a Synchronization request. This disables Replication, but changes are still captured.

  4. The Replication queues for the changed request(s) must be empty.

  5. Use Model Update to load the new version of the model into Connect CDC MonCon.

Initiate Copy or the Copy portion of Synchronization on one or more new or existing tables by doing one of the following:

  • Highlight one or more source tables in the same request or different requests and right-click the source table.

  • Highlight one or more source tables in the same request or different requests and select Request>Selective Start.

Select multiple tables by holding down the [Ctrl] key and clicking the new tables with the mouse.

This command starts the kernel, if it is not already started.

During synchronization, if all tables have capture disabled, then after Selective Start, all tables have capture enabled. The request is started when selective start begins allowing replication of previously defined tables while the new tables are copied.
