You can use this dialog to:
- set up model-wide defaults for the email specifications.
- start or stop the email notification in Connect CDC MonCon or Connece CDC Console.
- Select Object > Alert Action from the Director menu or right-click Hosts, Servers, Tables from the model.
The Model Alert Action dialog opens.
- Click Send email to (one address per line, Enter): option and provide a list of recipients for email alert actions in the To: field.
- Optional. Enter a subject for the email.
- Click Send email immediately if alert is: or above option and choose a level (FATAL, ERROR, WARN, INFO, DEBUG, ANY) from the dropdown list to specify the level for the email alert to send without a waiting period.Note: Send email immediately..., Max alerts per email, and Timeout work together. An email with the pending alerts is sent out whenever any of the three criteria is met.
Max alerts per email - maximum number of logging events collected before email is sent which limits the message size. It is recommended this value is no more than 100.
Timeout (secs) - number of seconds of inactivity before a pending email is sent. It is recommended that this value is lower than 300 seconds (5 minutes).
Attention: If you would like to be notified quickly, choose a low timeout and not a low number of alerts per email. Use the number of alerts per email to keep emails to a reasonable size. Setting it too low has the potential of degrading system performance in case of a surge in alert frequency. Similarly, choosing a trigger level in the Send email immediately field at or below INFO can cause a flood of email messages and slow down the system. - Specify a return email address in the From: field.Note: Since mail servers outside of your site may not accept email that has no DNS domain name following the, it is recommended that you specify a value in the form appname@domainname, where appname is known to the Connect CDC Director’s local mail server, and domainname is a DNS-registered domain name for your site.
- Specify the name or IP address of the Connect CDC Director host machine’s local SMTP server.
- Enter the SMTP user and password to authenticate against the server.
- Click OK.
