Before you install the metabase, you must have already defined a server. The metabase install process prompts you for information to connect to your Teradata server and, depending on the status of the metabase that it detects, lets you create the metabase database and objects, or upgrade the metabase objects.
If you are installing multiple databases under the same user/owner (for example, to create two separate models using a Teradata target, each having the same replication user), you must define two different metabase schemas.
Note the following:
-
If the metabase schema name is different than the replication user name as defined in the server properties, the installation process first creates the replication user database and then creates a database with the newly created user as the database owner. The metabase size cannot exceed the user size. All metabase tables are created in the newly created database.
-
If the replication user and the metabase schema name are the same, the installation creates only the user database and you are only prompted for the user size. The metabase tables are created under and owned by the newly created owner database.
- Right-click the server and select Install Target Only Metabase in the menu that displays. Note: The Teradata server cannot be a source, only a target.
The User ID and Password dialog displays.
- Enter a user ID and password with administrative privileges.
- Click OK.
The Teradata Configuration dialog displays.
- Enter the following information:
- In User size, enter the size of the user space.
- In Metabase size, enter the size of the metabase. The metabase size cannot exceed the user size value.
Note: If the replication user already exists and the metabase schema name is not the same as the replication user, you are prompted for the metabase size only. The value displayed in Metabase size is the maximum size available for that metabase. - Click OK.
The User ID and Password dialog for the Replication User ID displays.
- Provide the password for the replication user (the owner of the database which
contains the metabase objects), then click OK.
A dialog displays the steps that will be taken.
- Review the text to determine if you need to make any adjustments. The text indicates the:
- The Teradata server version on which the metabase will be installed.
- Current status of the metabase, if any, as detected by the Connect CDC Director.
- Sequence of operations about to be performed.
- Click OK to install the metabase.
An output window displays a log of the SQL statements sent and any errors that occur. The contents of this window can be printed, saved, or copied.
- When the metabase has successfully installed a message displays, click OK.
