After you have made tables available for distribution so that required tables exist under the Available Tables heading, you are ready to select all tables or specific tables for distribution.
To select tables for distribution:
- Right-click the source table from the Available Tables branch on the source server, choose Select For Distribution>This Table Only.
The Distribute Tables dialog appears.
-
In Select a Change Selector, select a change selector or generate a change selector for the specified distribution. This field is only available if the selected sending tables are IBM i source tables.
Note: Leave Select a Distribution set to <None>. You will name a Distribution later. See Create a distribution and copy request. -
In Select one or more target servers, select the server containing the target table.
-
In Map by Ordinal, do one of the following:
-
Select Map by ordinal to map from source table to target table by column order (ordinal). The first target column is mapped by the first source column, if compatible, the second target column by the second source column, if compatible, and so on. This is useful when the field names do not match another SQL table definition but are defined in the same order.
-
Deselect Map by ordinal to map from source table to target table by column name.
Note: You can also select Map by ordinal in the Target Table Properties Mapping tab. Each functions independently and produces a new mapping. Journal mapping is not used in this exercise. See the Advanced User Guide for more information. -
-
Check Create tables at the target if you want Connect CDC Director to automatically create target tables. See Automatically create target tables and add to a distribution for complete details on suing this feature. If you leave the box unchecked (the default), proceed to the next step.
-
Click OK.
If the Connect CDC Director finds a table with the same fully-qualified name (case may be different) on the target and if all columns map successfully, a message displays informing you that the table mapping was successful and the icon for your source server changes its pointing direction and its color in the Connect CDC Director tree.
Once the distribution definition is successful, the source table moves from the Available Tables branch to the Sending Tables branch, and the target table is displayed in the Target Tables branch immediately below the source table. The Receiving Tables branch of the target server displays the target table and the source table to which it is mapped.
