The z/OS Master Controller (SQDAMAST), can reduce the overall number of jobs or started tasks required to run multiple Connect CDC SQData processes. It is only recommended however for large numbers of Apply Engines. Control commands can also be issued through the operator console, by replying to an optional outstanding WTOR message and/or through an optional IBM MQ command queue. Other z/OS Capture and Publishers also support operator console commands, making the Master Controller less useful and only complicating those configurations. This utility also provides for Notification JCL to be submitted in the event of an Engine, Capture or Publisher agent or SQDaemon Controller failure.
- Supported platform: z/OS ONLY
- Up to 32 subtasks can be executed under a single Master Engine Controller instance.
- Only recommended for managing large numbers of Apply Engines running in a single LPAR.
- Some components MUST be run as Started Tasks in a separate address space (NEWADDRSP) from the Master, due to restrictions with native z/OS subtasking and POSIX.
The remainder of this section describes the functions supported by the Master Controller on zOS.
