Connect CDC (SQData) is most often used in multi-platform environments with each component built to function seamlessly together. Capture can run on commodity platforms where processing and storage costs are lower, not just the platform hosting the source data. Captured data is published using either the CDCStore or zOS zLog publisher, both of which provide dynamic transient storage and full restart/recovery. TCP/IP communication between Publishers and Engines provide a framework with unsurpassed flexibility, performance, efficiency and reliability in both heterogeneous and homogeneous z/OS, AIX, Linux and Windows environments. Unlike other change data capture frameworks, Connect CDC (SQData) supports multiple target engines (both Apply and Replicators) that utilize the same captured data without requiring its duplication.
The Replicator Engine, unlike other components, operates only on Linux platforms, communicating with Kafka and Hadoop clusters using TCP/IP.
