The VSAM Log Capture utilizes VSAM's own LOGREPLICATE function to capture changes made to VSAM files during the course of a CICS transaction. The LOGREPLICATE function writes data to a z/OS System LogStream. The CDCzLog Publisher Agent then manages the captured data by communicating with downstream Engines via TCP/IP. Once an individual Unit-of-Work has been forwarded to all target Engines and consumed, the zLog Publisher deletes the data in the LogStream.
Batch VSAM updates can also be captured but requires implementation of IBM's CICS VR VSAM (CICS VR) which logs batch changes to VSAM files.
