The Oracle LogMiner API Capture can operate as standalone process or under the sqdaemon process. The minimum permissions required on the source capture systems are Sysadm or Dbadmin. Similarly, the User-ID and/or Name of the application engine process on the target system must be granted Read and Update access to the target datastores. Request the assignment of the User-ID with those permissions. The user-id <sqdata_user> will be used throughout this document when referring to that user.

Determine if the Oracle Wallet, client side secure password store is to be used and configure it if necessary.

Create an Oracle profile containing the Oracle environment variables that give the capture information about the instance to connect to and the libraries to use. This should be setup in the logon script of the user that runs the capture.
