The Db2/z Capture Agent utilizes Db2 logging and LogReader IFI calls. That functionality has evolved over time as both customers and IBM have identified problems. IBM initially creates a problem management report (PMR) when a problem is identified. Next an authorized program analysis report (APAR) is issued containing symptoms and work-around's to document and track its resolution. Eventually IBM may produce a program temporary fix (PTF) to replace the module in error, and the APAR is closed. IBM also bundles previous dependent PTFs together with enhancements described by a new APAR that when implemented activates what is referred to as a Function Level. Each Function Level when implemented activates all enhancements, fixes and preventative maintenance items present in lower Function Levels.
Precisely recommends requesting from IBM the list of replication related APAR's associated with your installed version of Db2 to ensure that your system is up to date before beginning to use the Connect CDC SQData Db2/z Log Reader Capture. IBM will understand that includes any PTF's related to Db2 Logging, IFI 306 calls and IFCID 306 calls.
- Db2 Version 12 also requires implementation of the 10 Byte Log Sequence Number (LSN). If that was not completed prior to implementing the Db2/z Change Data Capture see the section Upgrading Db2 to 10 Byte LSN below.
- The Db2/z Dynamic Refresh functionality in Connect CDC SQData 4.1 requires Db2 V12 R1 M500 in order to support processing "slices" of the source table based on row count or From and to Key values.
