- Determine how test "workload" can or will be generated on the source side.
- Confirm the type of connection that will be made to the source Capture Controller SQDaemon.
- Request Host name, port number, Capture/Publisher agent name and initial Engine "subscription" name to be used to configure the Capture/Publisher and be used upon connection by the Engine.
- Ensure that the required NaCL public/Private keys have been generated using SQDUtil and the public key shared with those responsible for maintaining the Authorized Key List of the source sqdaemon.
- Test connectivity to the source sqdaemon and capture/publisher using SQDMon Utility.
- Determine if a local Engine Controller SQDaemon will be used to manage the local Apply and/or Replicator Engines.
- Start and execute Apply Engine. Confirm with those responsible for managing the Capture/Publishing components that the Engine has successfully connected.
- Request generation of workload against the Source Datastore. Confirm with those responsible for managing the Capture/Publishing components that data is being captured and being published to the new Engine subscription.
- Observe results in the target Datastore using vendor or open source tools dedicated to that purpose.
- If using a local Engine Controller SQDaemon, issue a request to the Engine, using the SQDMon Utility Display command to output a report of current processing statistics.
